We recently enjoyed a simple #ValentinesDay weekend close to home and of course we were equipped with #WhiskyAndDonuts to sweeten our time!
For those of you familiar with the Elgin #scotch lab #GlenMoray #distillery, you will know that there is a wide array of taste and history to be consumed within their #whisky! From personal experience, we have tasted euphoric enlightenment in a bottle from the dark and dusty corners of #Speyside attic collections stored by the most generous of pourers which adorned the old Glen Moray labels.
Beyond their recent age statement core range and wood finished series, this initial release from the Warehouse 1 Series is something to not pass up! At nearly 60% ABV spending 14 years hugging Sauternes fibers, this #singlemalt is a bold statement of the full-flavored mouthfuls to arrive in the future. It’s spicy hot, its sweet and silky and coats the palate with oil elixir with beautiful sustain. While the exceptional taste is the highlight of this dram, the maltiness matched with youthful wit only adds allure to the #experience!
As one might consider something from a fruity and/or tart #donut selection to pair with this #scotch, we chose the rich and buttery bite of the vanilla bean creation from #SanJuanCapistrano new kid JD Flannel. The confectionary sugars blended with specs of pure vanilla bean powder and extract lay top the #super fluffy dough that simply can’t be resisted. As the duo begin as contrasts to the pairing experience we slowly begin to taste the compliments together. As the fried dough eases the sting of strength and spice of the dram new glorious flavors reveal a deeper level which is what this whole thing is about!
